Volunteer Positions

At Common Talk, we are constantly looking for more volunteers to help out. Volunteer positions range from interactions on the platform to working behind the scenes. Each position is crucial to our workflow. 

If the position has an asterisk(*) at the bottom of the description, volunteers will receive anti-discrimination training for this role, provided by Common Talk.

Also, if you need volunteer hours, these positions can count towards those requirements. Please make sure to note this in your application.

Moderator

Moderators are responsible for ensuring that content on the platform is appropriate, respectful, and anti-discriminatory. Moderators review and/or flag content in coordination with Common Talk's terms and conditions.* 

Mediator

Mediators are one of the most important roles at Common Talk. Mediators are responsible for providing effective communication between members and helping them navigate the topics at hand. Mediators typically are assigned a topic via the forum or online events. *

Operations

The operations department is responsible for managing and maintaining the organization. Operations are tasked with resolving issues regarding the website, social media accounts, and the entirety of the company. Typically day is filled with meetings across departments.

Marketing

Marketing is responsible for posting and maintaining Common Talk's social media accounts along with creating new ideas for our brand. Other tasks include interacting with our audience, coordinating partnerships, and working with our mediators, and operations department. *
